A Kick in the What?

Yesterday we spent the day in Tallinn, Estonia. It is divided into 2 parts, the upper and lower town, and is surrounded by a stone wall. Tallinn was first noted on a map in 1154. No wonder it's medieval-looking! To get this lovely overview picture, Paul climbed 257 extremely narrow steps in a church tower. The Fromer's guide politely described the streets as "ankle-wrenching cobblestone" which is both accurate and understated at the same time. We saw this street sign which doesn't translate into what you might think. It actually is Low German for "peep in the kitchen" and is a church. Its tower shape allowed a "peep" into the kitchen of houses farther up in upper town. Lunch was traditional Estonian food and was quite delicious. This morning we are docked in Russia and will spend today and tomorrow in St. Petersburg. We lost another hour last night as we moved into a new time zone and are now 9 hours ahead of CDT. Love you all bunches!
